this is a sociology question, i have to observe a group of people and write about,it doesn't matter ?
Q. who it is,any ideas on interesting people that i can observe? good ideas will be appreciated.
Asked by sinajina - Thu Aug 28 17:08:25 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It would probably benefit you to observe social interactions within your own age group (or similar). Try to observe in PUBLIC places to where you taking field notes would not seem out of the norm...public library, courtyard at your university, public park, break room at work or school, starbucks, etc. It will be easier to report on the observation of a dyad or triad (as opposed to a single individual). Good luck!

Will you answer this group sex poll (sociology class)?
Q. I was in a sociology class, and the teacher (a women) had us fill out an anonymous survey on sexuality. In my random, seemingly mundane class in the south, almost 50% of the class said they had a group sex experience. Can this possibly be true, or do people just like to exaggerate? Have you had one?
Asked by rjandpj2007 - Tue Aug 26 13:12:45 2008 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I've done it 3 times (different people). I'd say it is quite common. Why would anyone lie about it?

A. Since the English Defence League was formed last year, it was inevitable they would come to Stoke because of the pockets of significant support the BNP has built up in the city. While the EDL claim to be hitting the road to protest against the existence of extreme Islamism, in reality this is a pretext for footy hooligans to mix it up with asian youth and anti-fascists. The EDL's record of their visits to Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and now Stoke can leave no doubt that peaceful protest is the last thing on their mind. In Stoke the police shipped the majority of EDL (who came in on coaches) to Wetherspoons in Hanley from midday. Below is footage from inside the pub: More...

A. I have a friend who worked 20 hours a week, was part of a few clubs, and she double majored a combined astronomy-physics program with a math program. So, yes, double majoring is entirely possible if you want to do it. Whether or not a double major is too difficult depends on what a particular individual can handle. If you are very intelligent and have an excellent work ethic and don't mind giving up things, like time to party on the weekends, then you should be able to easily complete a double major. If, however, you want time for dating, and social activities, or can't handle stress well, or don't have a good work ethic, then don't do it. The only person who can decide if you can handle it or not is you. However, if you do major in both,… [cont.]

Chemistry: What are the different solubilities of Group 2 compounds?
Q. Can anyone tell me anything about the solubility of Group 2 hydroxides, sulphates, nitrates and carbonates? Thank you.

A. hydroxides, sulphates, nitrates and carbonates In group two, only hydroxides of barium are soluble in water All sulfates of group two elements are soluble All nitrates are soluble Carbonates - all group two are insoluble The way you want to figure things out is looking at the lewis diagrams. A polar compound dissolves in water because water is polar, but that won't tell you everything You want to be looking at sizes of the atoms and other periodic trends

Q. We have 4 blood groups, accordingly at the time of transfusion doctors can decide compatibility. A. Cats have A, B and AB but they are not the same as the blood groups in humans by the same name. Dogs have dozens of blood groups, but they're not all incompatable with each other. There are two main groups which are though, and you can get dogs that lack both of those antigens. Cattle and horses also have many blood groups. Equine hospitals don't bother matching blood for compatability though, they just use a universal donor. Cattle medicine doesn't cross match blood groups either, because you can get away with one transfusion that doesn't match without killing the cow. Pigs I ave totally forgotten. You can't safely transfer bood from one species to another, but there are a variety of synthetic fluids created which work in all… [cont.]

Lobbying groups: How does one determine if a lobbying group is representing ones interests?
Q. I am interested in finding out more about this group: But I want to know who their sponsors are. Are they manufactures of chemicals, (Monsanto maybe) or companies being investigated for pollution using the word "environment" to sound nice? How can one find out what a lobbying groups true motivation is? And who is sponsoring or supporting the group?
Asked by Harry Gams - Mon Oct 5 20:26:49 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A person would need to investigate and find references to see who they truly work for...the public or special interest...and if they are heavily invested in wool (the type that is use to pull over people's eyes). Mari's last statement make a lot of sense. As with any group trying to sway public opinion or acting in regard to public interest, you still need to delve in what the substance of their being is and who are the ones that are truly funding them. The above link link is to a Wiki about the one site in question. Wiki is good, but the information presented is not always written in stone. Here is what I came up with a search engine result for them... I hope this information is of some use.

Q. That makes a big difference. If you have a group of 12 in which most of the singers are strong versus a weaker group of 12, many stronger singers will be voted off and many weaker singers will get pushed through. Were the groups randomly mixed?

Many of them can't sing well. This way, it ensure that only strong ones goes through. Those weaker ones will not go through because of popular vote or mischievous votes We don't want to see a repeat of Sanjaya of last season.

How do you determine if a group is a religion or a cult?
Q. I think the criteria by which we should determine if a group is a cult is the degree to which they manipulate their members to engage in self-destructive behaviors. If a group brainwashes its members to molest children (like Children of God), become prostitutes, or commit mass suicide, then they're a cult. But, if the group is well-intentioned and DOESN'T manipulate its members to engage these harmful activities, then they're a religion. Is my assessment correct? How do you determine if a group is a religion or a cult?

A. The world cult does not mean the same thing as the word religion. And we can see this from use; very few people use those words interchangeably. One difference pops up right away, which is that almost nobody wants to be considered a cult or a member of one. It has a very negative connotation. This explains some of those outliers we just mentioned. Some people who use those words to denote the same thing are anti-theists. If you hate all religion, then perhaps the distinction that one is really bad is lost upon you. Another group of outliers is four-hundred-year olds. By which we generally mean literature, not people. Up until the seventeenth century, the world cult DID just mean a specific sub-type of religion. It shared the same… [cont.]
